Perspective and Recent Research:
Valerie is a lecturer in Professional Education at the Stirling Institute of Education. She has an interest in researching issues of professional learning and teacher leadership through the development of the Chartered Teacher programme. Valerie is currently undertaking doctoral studies: her research focuses on the discourse of creativity and imagination in policy and curriculum in compulsory education.
She is also interested in how professionals enact education policy through pedagogy: this is currently being developed through an exploration of the policy discourse of active learning.

- motivation for learning throughout the professional career
- the assessment and evaluation of professional learning
- the role of creativity in developing accomplished and innovative practice
